What are Dentures?

What are Dentures

Dentures are removable dental appliances designed to replace missing teeth and restore oral functionality and aesthetics. They are custom-made to fit the unique shape of an individual’s mouth and are typically made of a combination of acrylic resin and metal materials.

Dentures can be categorized into two main types:

“This whole experience of receiving a beautiful smile has been a surreal, life-changing event for me. I no longer have poor self-esteem and suffer from reprisals from others. Since receiving my new smile I feel like a new person. I now have self-esteem and confidence in my new smile and it shows.”

Types of Dentures

Our dentists are committed to finding the best solutions, taking into account your health needs, aesthetic dental goals, and budget considerations. We serve patients from throughout the Harrisonburg, VA, area at our Staunton and Bridgewater offices. To learn more about the various types of dentures and which one may be right for you, contact our dentistry practice online to ask a question or request an appointment. You can also reach us by phone.

Traditional Full Dentures

Traditional Full Dentures

If you have lost all of your teeth, or require extraction of all remaining teeth, you may be a candidate for complete dentures. These restorations are likely what you picture when you think of dentures. A complete denture can replace the entire upper and lower dental arch. Our partner lab will create your prosthetic with a plastic base that matches the shade of your gums, and the synthetic teeth will have a natural appearance.

Traditional Partial Dentures

Traditional Partial Dentures

A partial will be recommended if you still have some remaining healthy teeth. A traditional partial denture is similar to a traditional full denture. However, it will only replace part of your dental arch and relies on hidden clasps that connect to your remaining healthy teeth.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-Supported Dentures

We recommend implant-supported dentures for the most stable and realistic results possible. Dentures attach to implant posts that are surgically embedded in your jawbone. Dental implants will never allow your denture to slip out of place, and are the only restorative option that can prevent jaw atrophy following tooth loss. They can support full and partial dentures. Our dentists will evaluate your oral and physical health to determine your candidacy for implant-supported dentures. If your jawbone has started to recede, you may require a bone graft or sinus lift before you can receive implants.

All-On-X Permanent Bridge

All-On-X Permanent Bridge

This full-arch restoration is made from state-of-the-art zirconia, which is incredibly durable and will not absorb stains or odors. It will attach to five or six implant posts, and your dentist will usually attach it on the same day as your implant surgery. Immediate bridges allow patients to enjoy the benefits of a complete smile right after dental implant surgery.

New and Improved Dentures: We guarantee that our dentures will look and feel natural!

The Cost of Dentures

Our team will take your budget into account. Implant-supported dentures and Fountain of Youth dentures often cost more, but the superior comfort and function prove worthwhile for many patients. During your consultation, we can provide you with a quote and discuss payment plans that help you budget for any services your insurance does not cover. Our practice accepts many convenient payment options for our Harrisonburg, VA, patients.

To further enhance convenience, our practice accepts multiple payment options, ensuring that you have flexibility in choosing a method that works best for you. We are committed to delivering high-quality dental care while prioritizing your comfort, satisfaction, and financial well-being.”

Just had my first visit with Dr. Whiting at Smiles for Life in Bridgewater. My welcome to the office was warm and inviting. The dental assistant was professional, proficient, and very gentle. Dr.Whiting is very good at explaining problems he saw with my teeth and outline options for addressing those problems.
