Dr. Demir B. Tulunoglu
Early Life and Education
Dr. Demir was born and raised in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Turkiye (Turkey). His interest in dentistry and medicine emerged early in life from observing his parents, both of whom were dentists.
Academic and Professional Journey
Dr. Demir’s pursuit of higher education led him to the United States when he was 17. He initially focused on business and obtained a bachelor’s degree in business. He further expanded his knowledge by earning a master’s degree in accountancy. However, his passion for dentistry persisted, leading him to pursue a doctorate in dentistry from Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio.
During his time in Cleveland, Dr. Demir became involved in various activities outside of dentistry. He was introduced to the university’s chess club during his master’s program, which sparked his interest in the game of chess. He also dedicated his time to helping others by working as a math tutor and chess teacher in local businesses and programs. Additionally, he discovered a love for hiking while exploring the beautiful Ohio Metroparks, known as the “Emerald Necklace.”
Hobbies and Interests
In his spare time, Dr. Demir indulges in a variety of hobbies. He has a passion for reading, finding joy in exploring different literary genres. Dr. Demir also embraces an active lifestyle and enjoys activities such as hiking, biking, and participating in team sports. Additionally, he has cultivated his musical talents by teaching himself how to play the keys and appreciating a wide range of music, from classical to jazz.
Through his diverse experiences and interests, Dr. Demir brings a well-rounded perspective and a genuine passion for dentistry to his practice at Smiles for Life.
Dr. Geovanny Balderas
Early Life and Education
Dr. Geovanny Balderas, also known as Dr. Geo by his patients, received his Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercises from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA. He then earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia, graduating with distinctive honors in community oral health.
Professional Experience
While earning his dental degree, Dr. Balderas served the community as an expanded functions dental auxiliary at the Philadelphia FIGHT Community Health Center. After completing his dental degree, Dr. Balderas began working as an associate general dentist in the Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey Region.
Professional Memberships
He is a proud member of Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, Hispanic Dental Association, and the Shenandoah Valley Dental Association.
Passion and Approach to Dentistry
Dr. Balderas is passionate about patient education and oral health from a whole-body perspective and delivering high-quality care.
Hobbies and Interests
During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, exploring hiking/biking trails, and fishing. He currently resides in Winchester with his girlfriend (Carol), two cats (Sheba and Mr. Oliver), and dog (Leo).
